City of Pearls II Song Covers 2020

Song covers designed for Sham-E-Ali’s songs “Stranger on a Train” and “Channeling” on her album City of Pearls—streaming everywhere.

The first is for “strangers on a train,” reflecting movement, was thinking about the ephemerality of exchanges on the train, the fleeting moments like smoke! Second is for “channeling” reflecting the energy of a pulsating sun, emergence, opening, rising, expanding portal!

From her bandcamp:
“The poem, Strangers On A Train, was originally featured in the book "City of Pearls" (Upset Press, 2019) by Sham-e-Ali Nayeem.
A sonic meditation on birthing, transformation and surrender.
The poem, Channeling, was originally featured in the book "City of Pearls" (Upset Press, 2019) by Sham-e-Ali Nayeem.
Nayeem writes from the perspective of a Hyderabadi Muslim American, drawing from the languages of her life to compose a poetics of vulnerability and tenderness.”
