“Arwah 2 is a queer desi los angeles youth creative response to the increasingly Hindu fascist state of India under PM Modi. India’s military occupation of Kashmir revoked the majority Muslim region’s approximately seven decades of limited autonomy once guaranteed by Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, and the BJP’s new citizenship law, also known as the #CABbill, explicitly excludes Muslims from neighboring countries from attaining citizenship. As the occupation of Kashmir nears 150 days and the NRC and CAB bills set the stage for the creation of the largest Muslim registry and detention project in the world, we cannot be silent or still as over 200 million Muslim lives are threatened by these measures, with the number of climate refugees and asylum seekers in the region on the rise.
